Make Your Contribution
The effectiveness of the society relies on donations from individual boaters who use our marine park system and want to help make it better with new marine parks, enhancements and improvements to existing ones.
All our BC Marine Parks Forever Society members are volunteers – we have no office or paid staff. Your entire donation is applied towards the purchase of land for new marine parks and to improve existing marine parks.
Individual club members and groups belonging to the Council of BC Yacht Clubs contribute a large sum every year.
Make an Individual Contribution or Leave a Legacy
ALL Donations received from estates and individuals receive tax relief from Revenue Canada and are eligible for a tax receipt. This also applies to US citizens who donate through American Friends of Canadian Conservation – American friends, please see further details below.
- private bequests
- businesses or organizations
- donations of stocks
- donations of suitable property.
FOR EXAMPLE: Taxpayers can reduce their Capital Gains by donating. Canadian approved tax receipts are issued. If you plan to make a $1,000 donation to a charity, you can donate stock which has a value of $1,000 but which originally cost you much less.
Rather than selling the stock, paying capital gains tax and adding cash to make up the $1,000 donation, making the donation in stock entitles you to the $1,000 charitable receipt for tax purposes, while not triggering capital gains tax.
For a $1,000 donation, a BC resident will receive about $390 off their income tax. Please consult your Financial Planner or Tax Consultant for details. Tax credits vary by Province. Please use the Canada Revenue Agency tax credit calculator for further information.
Boating Organizations Contribute Too
Boating organizations can significantly impact the work of the Society by collecting individual donations form their members and distributing all the information supplied to them on our projects and accomplishments.
